A Day in Rome

The building that I did for my pen and ink project is the Arch of Septimius Severus. It was built by Septimius Serverus in 203 A.D. It is 23 meters high and 25meters wide it is 11.85 meters deep. It was built in honor of Rome, everyone uses it. It is also used for traffic in Rome. It is white marble color. First I used my 6H pencil and drew out 1,1/2 inch boxes. Then I started from the bottom and worked my way up. Then I used sharpie and traced the outlines. After that I used the sharpie and made it dark in the shaded parts. I used patterns and emphasis for principles and line and forms for my elements. When I used pattern on is when I was doing the shaded spots.

The theme of my pen & ink drawing is Roman Architecture, which is the Coliseum. The Roman Coliseum is in Rome and was built from 72AD-80AD. It is 6 acres in size and it was built as an amphitheater for the use of dramas, executions, re-enactments, gladiator contests, public spectacles, animal hunts, and mock sea battles. An interesting fact about it is there were over 9000 wild animals slaughtered. Some of the interesting details of the Roman Coliseum are what it is made of. Which includes travertine, limestone, tuff, tiles, and concrete (cement). The Roman Coliseum can accommodate 87,000 but can hold 50,000 comfortably. The colors of the building are tan and brown.
The artistic techniques I used were I took a 6H pencil and drew a grid then I followed the grid and sketched out my building. Then I traced over the sketch with a fine tip sharpie and cross hatched along with some shading. After I finished I framed it and signed it. The mediums I used were pen and ink. My elements are line and shape. My principles are balance and proportion.

GRAND PUMP

For my art project I did the Roman architecture grand pump. Grand pump was a bathhouse in the old ages but then soon it was remodeled. I did this project because the building stood out to me because it’s a important utility building that’s isn’t just useful but elegant at the same time. I used boxes and squares and my mediums are pencils to begin my project and pen and ink finish the project, my elements were patterns and space. Do you have you any questions about my art project?

Roman Architecture

This Roman Perspective pen & ink project is a drawing of The Temple of Jupiter. It was built in 509 BC by architect Marcus Horatius. It was built in Rome, Italy. It was destroyed four different times and rebuilt on the same foundation every time. The building caught my eye as I was researching. I thought it was cool. I used my 6H pencil to draw a grid. Then I drew the architecture. Next I drew detail with pen and ink. I used lines by drawing the building and used shapes using squares and circles. I used variety by all the different angles and lines. I also used proportion by spacing out my shapes.
