Violet Hallucinations
Oil on Canvas
The medium of Violet Hallucinations is oil, and is a painting of a girl on one canvas and an animal on the second canvas both having eyes that represents space. I find the sky the most angelic thing you can look at. All the colors, clouds, stars, and the milky way can move you. So i kept that in mind while painting the eyes. I added a yellow shade to the girl to try my best to represent all the different colors of the sky, day and night. My technique I used at first I started off using a light blue/ purple shade for the girls skin and added more pinks blending them together to add more dimension and value, then after that I started on the girl's hair, I used the lightest pink and did a wash, adding darker pinks, and reds to add more colors. Then for the animal I started off with a lighter purple and did a wash adding more purples, both in darker tones and lighter tones. For the background in both paintings I painted black, with oil and made a wash. Then I used a napkin to take some paint from the canvas. After that I used a acrylic black paint and added some smudges to change the aspect of the background. And lastly for the eyes I would add colors, as blue, purple, and greens and i'd add oil and take a tissue and take the paint away from the middle of the eye, then add the highlights.. The first element I used was value, which refers dark to light, I used value in the neck of the girl when the shadow fades. The second element I used was Space. This was used in the background of the painting and how it all fits together. I used two principles, the first one I used was Emphasis, which means the focal point of the painting, the girl and the dog are the focal point of the picture. The second principle I used was balance, which means that the picture is in perfect balance and there isn't a lot of things at one side or another. Since the paintings are both in the middle of the canvas they are both in balance of each other.
Passion
Watercolor
The medium of my projects is water color. My art piece is of a girl with short brown hair, and her skin radiates pink especially around her cheeks. I wanted to make the girl pale, and make the dark colors, and light colors work together. My technique I used was first I started with getting lots of water in my brush; using a tan color very watered down made a wash for the girls face. I let that dry then I used less water for a more concentrated color. I use the more concentrated color for the depth in the face. For the pink specks on her cheeks i used a lot of water and picked up a pink color, after that i used specks of darker pink. The first element I used was color i used color in the cheeks and the background of the flowers. The second element I used was line. This was used in the eye lashes of her eye. I used two principles, the first one I used was unity, that’s when the picture flows together and looks at if it belongs together. I used that by adding pinks for the cheeks and the lips, so it flowed with the flowers and pink mixtures. The second principle I used was movement, this means when looking at a piece of artwork your eyes follow is a specific path. For my art work it goes from the flowers to the eyes in the general direction.
Pastel
Goofy Goober
Watercolor
The medium of Goofy Goober is watercolor, and is a painting of a tag doll type clown. I chose to paint this because I like the creepy aspect of the eyes, and the big lips. I also wanted to use fun colors. I wanted to make my character have a realistic but fictional vibe to it. I added the orange and yellow on each side to make sure the contrast evident in the character. My technique for this project was first I started off with a light beige for the skin tone to sketch out the body. Then I added the two buttons as eyes, I made the buttons different sizes to make the character have a crazy look. After that I added a red button for the nose like a clown. And then I added the realistic lips, and the hair with lots of water added less and less water. Two principles I used in this art piece was repetition I used that in the collar of the character, and variety in the hair and smoke around the character. And elements I used was shape because of the buttons on its face, I used color in this piece everywhere, like the colors coming out of the mouth and eyes.
Independent
Color Pencil
The medium of Independent is prisma colorpencil, and is a drawing of a tiger with a cape. I chose a cape because tigers remind me of heroic angelic animals. The technique I used was first I took the lightest color I could find which was a light beige to sketch out the tigers face. After that I took a orange and sketched out all the features of the face, the eyes, nose, stripes, etc. then I applied the lightest color of the tigers face which was a grey and a light orange and eventually got darker in the color spectrum, till I reached black. Then for the eyes I took a very light green and shaded it all and added some yellows and darker greens. After all that I smudged the oranges and greys to make It seem soft like fur. Two principles I used was pattern in the tigers fur, and proportion in the tigers face and snout. The two elements I used are space because of the tiger being in the middle of the page, and form in the tiger's eyes.
